Join Boy Scout Troop 35
Thank you for your interest in joining our Troop. If you have any questions in this process, please reach out to our Scoutmaster at 35Scoutmaster@gmail.com.
To become a Boy Scout, a boy:
-
Must have completed 5th grade, OR
-
Be at least 11 years old, but less than 18, OR
-
Have earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts
He must be willing to live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law, and participate in Troop and Patrol activities. His parents or guardian must be willing to work with him in the Troop. The more involved the family is in Boy Scouting, the more rewarding the experience for the Scout. We encourage parents to become trained leaders and can always find roles for volunteers.

The future Scout and his parents are encouraged to come to a meeting, meet the other Scouts, and talk with the Scoutmasters to make sure that Troop 35 is a good fit.
For detailed information on how Troop 35 operates, please download our Policies Handbook.
Troop 35 does online applications, so please follow this link to apply: Be a Scout at Troop 35.
-
When you apply, be sure to use the code DODMMMYY to pay the military rates for overseas council dues ($12/yr vice $40/yr): e.g. if applying in June 2022, use the code DODJUN22.
Costs of joining:
-
If you have never registered with BSA before, there is a one time $25 registration fee.
-
BSA charges a $72/year for annual registration
-
The Far East Council charges $12/year overseas fees.
-
Troop 35 charges about $60 for a new Scout to the Troop. Annual dues in subsequent years are about $40/year. With that, you will received a Boy Scout Handbook, a Troop 35 T-Shirt, a Troop 35 Neckerchief and slide, and the council patch and 35 numerals to sew on your uniform. The dues also cover the cost of patches the Scout will earn as well as maintaining Troop gear (tents, cookware, etc...)
-
The last expense is purchasing a Scout shirt. Various camping gear will likely need to be purchased down the line (sleeping bag, sleeping pad, flash light, etc..), but these items can be borrowed or rented initially.
-
The cost for camping trips and outings will vary, but typically lands around $25 per weekend.
-
If Scouting is cost prohibitive for you, please let us know and we can work towards a solution that is right for the family

Adult Leaders
Adult leaders are always welcome in Troop 35. We are looking for those that exemplify the ideals of Scouting in their character, citizenship, leadership, and ethics. Being a leader in Boy Scouts allows you to make a positive impact in our Scouts and help mentor and develop the youth in the Troop.
Please contact Troop 35's Scoutmaster at 35Scoutmaster@gmail.com for more information.
